• Create a sample colour card using heritage dye plants of the kind growing in the SLBI garden

• See herbarium specimens of these dye plants from the SLBI herbarium collection

• Enjoy a colourful June day exploring botanical hues and plant stories

This event will take place in the SLBI garden with 6 people, we will be observing the current regulations regarding masks, spacing and sanitising.

Dye a silk scarf using madder root. See madder root grown in SLBI garden
Study herbarium sheets of natural dye plants from SLBI. Learn about the history of the natural dyeing process and experiment with a range of colours the madder root makes. Try shibori resist techniques to create patterns with madder.
