Learn about the special qualities of the madder plant, see it growing in the SLBI garden.
Press a madder plant – Rubia tinctorum – in preparation for the specimen to be added to the herbarium collection at SLBI.
Prepare a dye bath and explore the many colours that can be produced from this root dye bath on a selection of small fabric swatches.
Create your own colour card and draw mindfully in the garden with ink made from madder.
